Half day (2 hours) ‘Taster’ sessions
If you’re limited for time or unsure if a full day workshop is for you, why not join me on a half day workshop at Whinlatter Forest Visitor Centre? This beautiful woodland environment is a perfect setting in which to ‘dip your toe’ into the world of landscape photography.
These two hour workshops are suitable for all the family (children under 16yrs must be accompanied) and commence at 10.00 and 14.00 each day.
After introductions we’ll go out onto the forest and visit a series of nearby locations to explore different elements and techniques of landscape photography. We’ll have opportunities to look at composition, exposure, exploring the relationship between ISO, shutter speed and aperture settings, getting to grips with your histogram and a host of other quick tips and techniques which I hope will whet your appetite to dig further into landscape photography. We’ll return to the centre where we’ll review the session and address any outstanding questions.
Unfortunately, due to current Covid restrictions, refreshments are not provided as part of the workshop. However, you are welcome to bring your own or better still, use the on-site Siskins cafe where you’ll get a great choice of food and drinks in a wonderful and relaxing forest environment.
A ‘Taster’ workshop will cost just £20.00 per person.
Whinlatter ‘Taster’ sessions for 2024 are available on Saturday’s, 10.00 - 12.00noon and 2.00 - 4.00pm on:
30th March
3rd August
26th October
In addition, I’m planning to holding a ‘Taster’ session at Whinlatter this summer with younger photographers in mind. Accompanied children can attend a morning session (10.00 - 12.00 noon) for the same price of £20 and accompanying adults can attend for free. Please keep an eye on this page for dates to be announced shortly or email me using the link below.

Some points to note:
1 - It would be really helpful for you to get to know your camera settings before the workshop. This will help you get the most from your session although I am, of course, available to help with any issues that arise during our time together.
2 - If you have any mobility or health needs that you feel might impact on your enjoyment of the workshop, please let me know beforehand and I’ll do my best to help. Please remember to bring strong footwear, waterproofs and clothing suitable for the weather and time of year. Your camera equipment including a tripod if you have one, a notebook and please remember to fully charge your batteries and/or bring spares! You might want to carry a drink with you.
