Greeting Card Printing Process
All of my greeting cards are A5 in size and lithographically printed. They are made in Kendal, Cumbria from 350gsm silk card and the fronts and backs have a gloss laminate finish to ensure the very best quality. The back of the cards carry an artist statement, details about the photograph and some, within my ‘Inspirational’ range, carry a Christian message and/or word of encouragement. All cards are blank inside. Cards are printed on paper from sustainably managed forests.
Follow the journey of how my cards are produced.
1 - We use a 5 colour B2 Sakurai Oliver - Lithographic Offset press.
2 - We print with the following colours in this order on the press: Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow
3 - Colours are carefully monitored throughout the process to ensure consistency.
4 …..and I always like to observe the process!
5 - There are 4 lithographic printing plates used for each greeting card - a plate for each of the 4 colours.
6 - Some of the completed cards waiting to be cut and scored - ready for folding.
7 -The cards are then transferred to a film wrapping specialist in Warwick Bridge, north Cumbria.
8 - Here the cards are wrapped in cello bags with a white diamond envelope and grouped into packs of six.
9 -Finally, the cards are boxed and ready to be delivered.
